Thomas Bostaph Obituary
Thomas Bostaph
December 26, 1936 - April 4, 2014
Resident of Santa Rosa
Thomas J. Bostaph, of Santa Rosa, passed away on April 4th, 2014 due to complications from heart disease, at the age of 77.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, "Tom" was a multi-talented and energetic man. He was a highly skilled tradesman, a natural born leader and a devoted friend and father. While in Pittsburgh he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. He later trained as an automotive mechanic and moved to Newark, California. Tom loved people and the community in which he lived. His tireless contributions to the Mowry area residents association led to his running for public office and finally his election to the Newark School Board. For more than fifteen years he made a living as an automotive repair instructor in the Oakland Public School System. Upon his retirement, Tom worked as a handyman and enjoyed traveling. After learning to play the banjo, Tom could be found Thursday nights playing at Porky's Pizza in San Leandro with his many friends.
Tom is survived by seven children and many grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Grand Pap" or "Pap".
Services will be held at Sacramento Valley Nation Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, 95620 Dixon, California on April 28th at 3pm.
