Mary Eberl Obituary

Mary Elaine Rutledge Eberl
Feb. 4, 1935 - Aug. 31, 2014
Resident of San Rafael
Mary Elaine Rutledge Eberl passed in her sleep on Aug. 31 in Santa Rosa at age 79. Born Feb. 4, 1935 in Sacramento, CA, she is survived by her brother William Rutledge, her sons John and Greg Eberl, and her partner Dick Wuopio.
Her father, Dwight, worked for the U.S. Geological Survey. Her mother Eulala made their summer moves enjoyable.
Mary graduated from the University of Redlands in 1957, when she married fellow alum George Eberl, journalist. The family lived in Germany and traveled throughout Europe. Mary moved to Redwood City / San Carlos in 1971. She worked many years as administrative assistant or sales coordinator.
From the second grade, Mary played the violin, then viola - in college and for years with the Redwood Symphony.
Mary was an avid reader. She enjoyed travel, concerts, dancing, taking classes, writing stories. She collected antiques, books, and vintage clothing.
In 2010 Mary moved to San Rafael with Dick Wuopio, her friend since childhood. They moved to The Lodge at Paulin Creek in Santa Rosa in 2012 when Mary was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Mary will be laid to rest at the Los Gatos Memorial Park among family and friends.
