John Taylor Obituary

John "Tad" Taylor
4-28-1919 - 2-5-2017
Resident of Cupertino
Tad Taylor aka Tadeusz Kuniewski, passed away on February 5, 2017 at the "Summer House" of Sunny View Continuing Care Retirement Community in Cupertino, CA.
Tad was a native of northwestern Poland, born Tadeusz Kuniewski. He was a cadet in the Polish Air Force and was taken as a prisoner of war by the Soviets during WWII. Tad wrote an interesting memoir of his experience that is available online, "A Polish Prisoner in the USSR 1939-1942, by Tadeusz Kuniewski".
After the war, Tad remained in England earning a degree in mechanical engineering. He then immigrated to Canada and finally to Silicon Valley, where he worked as an engineer for many years at Beckman Instruments in Palo Alto. Tad enjoyed ice dancing, attending French and Spanish club meetings and hosting musical ensembles for his friends.
Proceeded in death by his wife Iris McCloud Meisenbach and stepson Stephen Meisenbach; long-time companion Pearl Stephen and best friend John Robbins. Survived by his nephew Jerzy Kuniewski of Poland; second cousin Ania Wilkinson of Boulder, CO; niece Hania Berdys of The Netherlands and niece Christina Tworek of Berkeley, CA. He will be deeply missed by his dear friends Carol and Dan Pfahl, Jenny Shen along with all his ice-skating companions, French and Spanish club members and friends at Sunny View Retirement Community.
At Polish birthday parties the song, "Sto Lat" is sung to the birthday person—sto lat meaning: "May you live 100 years!" This was Tad's goal. He lived 97 years and 9 months! Tad's remains will be scattered at sea.
