Harold Edward Ritter passed into the arms of The Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the age of 97. He was a long-time resident of Emmett, Idaho.
Harold was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Brighton, Colo., to Edward S. and Mary Butherus Ritter. He was the firstborn of nine children. Harold spent his early years in Emmett where he met Thelma Barnard, his loving wife of 66 years.
He was a mechanic in his early career and later spent many years in the farm equipment business with Minneapolis Moline/White Farm Equipment. In their later years, Harold and Thelma returned to Emmett where Harold worked into retirement driving school buses for the Emmett School District.
Harold enjoyed camping and fishing in his spare time, along with gardening and caring for his fruit trees and yard. He was a member of El Korah Shrine, Boise Valley Scottish Rite, was Past Master of Masonic Butte Lodge No. 37 and Past Patron of Electa Chapter 22 OES.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife Thelma; his parents; brothers Melvin (Pete), Elvador, Ed (Smokey) and sisters Violet, Lois, Mariann and Velda.
He is survived by his sister Shirley Burt; son James and daughter-in-law Sue Ritter; daughters Carol Moulton and Pam Burgess and husband Arnie; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Potter Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Emmett Cemetery.
