Irene Dolores Hemovich Aubuchon, 90, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away March 12, 2014, at River's Edge in Emmett.
Irene was born in White Knob, Idaho, on July 6, 1923, to Mike and Anna Hemovich. "Ike" grew up in Mackay with her sisters and brother. Aggie, Rosie, Marie, twins Marlene and Mike and Georgia. The Hemovich sisters were well known throughout the area for their enjoyment of life. Mom and Marie were the fishermen of the group, and up to her 80th birthday. Mom could still cast a perfect fly out on the water. Mom went to nursing school and graduated from Sisters of Charity School of Nursing. She then joined the Air Force as a nurse and was able to travel overseas.
She met and married Lee F. Aubuchon on Jan. 5, 1957, and were married for 51 years, living most of those years in Reno, Nev. Mom had a love of life and adventure, loved to travel and was able to continue for a long while after Lee's death.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; twin girls, Laura and Lisa; sisters, Aggie, Rosie, and Marlene; and brother, Mike.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie; best friend, Ernie Davis; sisters, Marie and Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A very heartfelt thank you to all the staff at River's Edge and Horizon Hospice for all the strong shoulders to lean on, the comforting hugs and kisses for Mom and myself, the effort to keep us comfortable and loved. You are all bright, shining star. Thank you.
A vigil and rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett.
