Kris Arbaugh died March 12, 2014, of cancer. She was born in Soda Springs, Idaho, on June 7, 1957, to William and Virgean Ross. She spent her childhood in Aberdeen, Weiser, Burley and Emmett, Idaho, graduating from Emmett High School in 1975.
Kris married Jerry Hoopes in December 1974 and their daughter, Angie, was born in 1976. Kris and Jerry later divorced.
Kris met and fell in love with Joe Arbaugh and they married in 1991. In 1992, they moved to Havre, Mont., where Joe was chief photographer for the local newspaper. In 1995, they moved to Great Falls, Mont. where Kris worked at the Made in Montana gift shop. When Joe felt the urge to become a long haul truck driver, Kris left her job to go on the road with him. While they were on the road, they fell in love with Phoenix, Ariz., eventually moving there in 1996. Kris worked for Dillards while they were in Phoenix.
In 2002, tired of city life, they moved to Kona, Hawaii, where they owned a tile and grout restoration business and enjoyed the Hawaiian life of which we all dream. In 2003, they moved back to Emmett and Kris resumed her career with Dillards.
In 2005, Kris and Joe moved to Victoria, Texas, where Kris was head of loss prevention at Bed Bath and Beyond and later worked for Tracy's Hallmark as an assistant manager.
In 2008, Kris and Joe moved to Cedar City, Utah, where they knew they had found their forever home. Kris went to work for CAL Ranch where she was the assistant manager of the clothing and footwear department. Tragedy struck Kris when Joe, the love of her life, died in an accident.
Kris wanted to thank the many friends everywhere who have always made her life so incredibly special. She especially wanted to thank her daughter, Angie Amor, for putting her life on hold to care for Kris during her illness; her sisters, Barbara Nau and Robyn Price, for helping with the final details; Brad and Dee Mayes (you'll never know how much you meant to Kris); Jay and Margaret Wick for all your love and support; the entire CAL Ranch family for all the good times spent there and the wonderful group at Intermountain Healthcare Hospice.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Jean Ross of Emmett and her husband, Joe Arbaugh.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie Amor (Tyler Swenson) of Boise; sisters Barbara Nau (Rick) of Emmett and Robyn Price (Carl) of Corvallis, Ore.; and nephews Gaitlin and Kegan Price.
At Kris' request, no services will be held.
