Newton E. Wrightsman, 89, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Burial will follow in the Emmett Cemetery.
Newton was born Dec. 14, 1922, at St. Joseph, Mo. He grew up in Missouri and when he was 19, he moved to California. He served in the Army
Air Corps during WWII
. He returned to California where he worked for Kaiser Aluminum and later worked for 18 years as a letter carrier for the Post Office, retiring in 1984. That same year he moved to Emmett where he enjoyed retirement and met Jean Puschmann. They were married on Sept. 17, 1991. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel - they went to China, Alaska and drove all over the United States. A known tinkerer, he worked for several years restoring a 1928 Olds. He served as the president of the Gem County Senior's and was active in the Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Wrightsman of Emmett; her sons, Eric and Sharon Puschmann of Virginia and Dennis and Sue Puschmann of Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Terry Smith; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Charlotte Sowards of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by Jean's son, John Puschmann and two brothers.
