Waldo Thomas

Waldo Thomas, 85, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away in Nampa, Idaho on March 27, 2013, of natural causes. Waldo was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Goodland, Kan., to John and Matilda Thomas. He was one of seven children.
Waldo spent many years farming and ranching with his family in Kansas, Colorado and Idaho. He married Lucille Bowman on June 4, 1950 and were married for 55 years. They had three children Steve, Linda and Shari. He worked for Boise Cascade at the Emmett saw mill and retired after nearly 40 years of service.
Waldo and his family were active in the Comancheros Western Riding Club and enjoyed many years of riding horses with the group. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was always excited to attend any of his grandchildren's activities, spending many evenings and weekends watching their games and dance recitals. He had a great sense of humor and was definitely a "do-it-yourself" kind of guy whether it was doctoring his cattle or building his garage. His quick wit and helping hand will be greatly missed.
Surviving Waldo is his son, Steve of New Plymouth; his daughters, Linda Steude of Nampa and Shari and (Mike) Knauss of Meridian; a sister, Jean Potts of Boise; six grandchildren, Jeff, Lisa, Janae, Derek, Matthew and Lexi; and one great-grandson; Colton along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Services will be held at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Emmett Cemetery. The family will receive friends and visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
