Services for Marion Arthur Goslin, 85, of Emmett, who died Friday Nov. 23, 2012, at home, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Potter Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the VFW in lieu of flowers.

Marion was born on May 19, 1927, in Wewela, S.D., to Fred and Madeline Agnes Harkin Goslin. He grew up on a farm in the Sand Hills of Nebraska and went to school in Fairmont, S.D., until the 10th grade, then had to go home to help his parents on the farm. In 1950 he was drafted into the United States Army and spent over 13 months on the front lines in the DMZ of Korea. He was in the 3rd infantry, 3rd Battalion of the 7th Regiment.
On the 28th of November 1952, he married Ellen Soles of Milboro, S.D. at Winner, S.D. He was a mail carrier for the United States Post Office from 1953 to 1954 before moving to Emmett, where he would spend the rest of his life.
He worked for Gem Island Cattle Co. in Emmett until June 1961. Then he began working for City Transfer as a heavy equipment operator. He was one of the best backhoe operators in the valley. He later became a part owner of the company until health issues caused him to stay home while recovering. He later went back to work for City Transfer and worked there until he retired in 1991.
Marion was very active in the Masonic Lodge, Butte Lodge # 37 A.F. & A. M. and was elected master three times. He was also involved with the Elks Lodge, VFW, DAV and the American Legion. Marion and his wife, Ellen, enjoyed spending the summer at Cascade Lake and their winters snow birding in Yuma.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Soles Goslin and his three sons, Jim (Trina) and their three children Jacy, Angie and Bonnie, Dean (Gretchen) and Don (Vicky) and their son, Cole.
