Adonis "Donnie" Griffiths passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Emmett, Idaho. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Emmett. The Rev. Gretchen Downer will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise. Arrangements are under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett.
Donnie was born Nov. 17, 1916, in New Plymouth, Idaho, to Ray and Hattie Nichols. She was reared in Emmett and graduated from Emmett High School in 1935. After attending school in Spokane, Wash., she returned to live in Meridian where she was employed in the office of Dr. Joseph Thomas until her marriage to Vilate Griffiths in 1938. Following their marriage they maintained their residence in Emmett. Vilate passed away June 9, 1988.
Donnie was employed by Boise Cascade Corp. and City Finance Co. while living in Emmett. She was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, having served as Vestry Clerk and Secretary of Episcopal Church Women. For many years she was an active participant in the Women's Golf Association, serving two years as club president. One of the joys of her life was her bridge club, of which she was a Charter Member.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Tim Barnett of Ahsahka, Idaho; granddaughter Kim Mills of Kuna; many nieces and nephews; and "adopted" grandson Tim Mills of Boise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vilate; a granddaughter, Kelli Barnett; a sister, Faye Ashby; and a brother Gerald Nichols.
