David Albert Walker passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in a Boise, Idaho, hospital in the arms of his two children Jody and Justin.
David was born on Feb. 15, 1952, in Emmett, Idaho, to Charles and Pearl Walker, the oldest of four children. During his early childhood his family lived throughout Idaho, Oregon and Montana.
In eighth grade, his family returned to Emmett. As a teen Dave worked for Sanders Farms, ran track and was a member of the high school choir. After a year at Boise State University, Dave was married and returned to Oregon to pursue his dreams. At the age of 20 Dave began his career for Tektronix Inc. He obtained an honorary doctorate from Oregon State University. Dave was a Corporate Industrial Engineering Manager. His successes allowed him to fulfill his dreams of owning a boat to fish in and a cabin at the beach. He took an early retirement after 20 years with Tektronix.
His passion for boats, lead him on a new career path, selling for Bayliner. David was a single father to his two children and raised them with unconditional love and support. David returned to Emmett in 1992 and later met his loving wife, Dorothy at church. They were wed in 2002, and he acquired three step-children and four grandchildren of which he treated as his own. He retired from sales in 2008. His years of retirement were spent with his wife, mom, children and grandchildren, boating, fishing and camping.
Our beloved dad put all others before himself. He was tenderhearted and adored his family. We all know how much he loved us, which is the greatest gift he could have ever left behind. Dad was charming, gracious, generous and humble. He loved God and we are comforted that we will be together again in eternity. He was a big guy, with a contagious smile, a huge heart and a love for small things, like his darling camper the "marsh mellow." He was truly adored by his family. He was a one in a million Dad, "Papa," Husband, Son, Brother and Friend. We are broken hearted to lose him unexpectedly and at such a young age. We will carry on his legacy of love and loyalty.
David is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his mother, Pearl Walker; children, Jody Scott (Kelly) and Justin Walker (Amber); step children, Shawn, Angelina and Forrest; grandchildren Jack Burke, Cody Scott, Kaden and Logan Walker, Aubrey and Mathew Williams, Allyson and Amanda Nida; siblings, Coleen Matuska, Carl and Darrell Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Walker and his best friends and cousins, Allen and Brad Walker.
A celebration of life will be held Oct. 14, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. at Black Canyon's, Wild Rose Park near Emmett.
