Elizabeth P. Corkhill

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Elizabeth P. Corkhill passed away gently from this earth on Dec. 8, 2013, at Emmett, Idaho. She was born on May 22, 1918, at Muskogee, Okla.
She was the only child of Clyde E. and Lillian A. Pollard. At the age of 12, the family moved to Chino, Calif., for her father to join his brother in the growing and sale of berries. Her most "unfavorite" thing was to have to go out early in the chill of the morning and pick strawberries before going to school. In spite of that, she always loved strawberries.
Elizabeth graduated from Chino High School after singing in the choir and playing piano for school musicals. She met Randall E. Corkhill during one of those musicals and a few years later they were married, not without a bit of nudging by their respective mothers, who just happened to belong to the same church. A few years later a daughter and son joined the family and life moved on.
For several years she was an active member of both the Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodges while living in California.
In 1977, they joined their daughter and family in Emmett where she formed her most treasured friendships in her quilt club. Her almost eight years at Serenity Living in Emmett and all the loving care that was given to her made life easier and she loved every single one who was there for her. They were her extended family in these last years. They are to be blessed.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by a grandson Dirk Anthony Veenstra, a son Terry Leigh Corkhill and her husband Randall.
She is survived by her daughter and husband Dianne and Dirk Veenstra; grandson Roger Leigh Veenstra, granddaughter Gayle E. Powell and husband Barry J. Powell and grandson Randy F. Corkhill; great-grandson Colton Leigh Veenstra and great-granddaughters Megan Nelson and Kiley Grace Corkhill; and daughter-in-law Arlene F. Corkhill of California.
