Joan Naomi Durfee was born on April 13, 1937, to Clifford and Burnice Durfee in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the eldest of three daughters and grew up in southern Idaho. On Aug. 18, 1955, she married the love of her life Charles Edward Oliver in Buhl, Idaho. They had four beautiful children, Darcy, Denice, Nick and John. Together they made Emmett, Idaho, their hometown. Joan loved being in the pine trees with family and friends. She had many hobbies including camping, painting and bowling. She was Idaho State Singles Champion in 1987.

Joan is survived by her husband Charles; her sister-in-law Beverly (Neal) Wirsching; four children Darcy (Gene) Gatfield, Denice (Ed) Yager, Nick (Tammy) Oliver and John Oliver (Denise Darrell); sisters Jeanenne Donaldson and Joyce (Jim) Baker; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three on the way; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents Clifford Nicholas Durfee and Burnice Katherine Charlton Comstock and her brother-in-law Ralph Donaldson.
Joan will be cremated and scattered among the pine trees that she loved. The family will celebrate her life on the weekend of Chuck and Joan's 58th wedding anniversary. The family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors and staff of St. Alphonsus ICU and Palliative Care Unit of Boise, for what they felt was "above and beyond the call of duty" in mom's care and keeping us informed and comfortable.
