Robin Diane Helzer, 52 of Nampa, Idaho passed away Saturday, April 19 following a short illness. She was born to Gerald and Eunice Helzer on March 18, 1962 in Caldwell, Idaho. At the age of three, Robin moved with her family to Emmett where she attended school.
In 1980, her daughter, Rachel Deanna was born. Robin loved being a mother and worked very hard to support her new family. In 1983, she married Todd Smither and Curtis Todd was born. After a few years, Todd and Robin were divorced. Robin worked multiple jobs and did what it took to raise her family as a single mom.
In 2001, Robin married Lino Prough. Lino and Robin spent three years driving truck across the United States, going to Niagara Falls three times. They were able to visit every state in the union except Florida. After retiring from truck driving, Lino and Robin settled in Horseshoe Bend where she worked as a waitress. Then they ventured north where they worked at Cougar Mountain Lodge. She loved the mountains and loved working with people. They moved up to Warm Lake where they managed the Warm Lake Lodge. She loved that job. Eventually, having to move back to Emmett, she returned to working at Plexus in 2005 as a production lead supervisor, where she was respected and loved by co-workers and her team. In 2006, Robin and Lino parted ways and she moved to Nampa where she bought her first house. Lino and Robin remained great friends.
Robin is survived by her parents; two sisters, April Brown (Jerry) of White Bird, ID, and Penny Helzer of Boise; two children, Rachel Schaefer (Jake) of Emmett and Curtis Smither of Boise; seven grandchildren, Kristopher Helzer, Michaela Lattimer, Jonathan Schaefer,  Anastazia Schaefer,  Jacob Schaefer, Ethan Hackworth-Lemley, and Skyler Adamson; a niece, Taylor Dodge; and two nephews, Adam Wright and Jason Wright.
Robin loved the outdoors.  She enjoyed fishing, traveling, horseback riding and recently got into motorcycle riding with her close friend, Wayne Fillis. She was a wonderful grandma and enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren.  She had a huge heart and loved her family and friends.
A Celebration of Robin's Life is planned for Sunday, April 27 at 2 p.m. to be held at the Gem Islands Sports Complex in Emmett. Please join us to share memories of Robin and the lives she touched. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com .
