Margie Ellen Worley, 85, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on May 29, 2014, surrounded by her family. Graveside services were conducted June 3, 2014, at the Emmett Cemetery.
Margie was born Feb. 27, 1929, in Gage, Okla., to Walter M. and Irma R. (Fessler) DeGrange. In 1936, she moved with her family to Emmett. During her sophomore year at Emmett High School, she was hired as a nurses aid and moved into the nurses quarters at Mary Secor Hospital where she worked at the hospital and attended high school full time. During this time, she earned her LPN license, but had to wait until she was old enough for the license to be official. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1947.
She married Robert (Bob) Worley on July 13, 1948, following his discharge from the Army. Together, they raised five children on an acreage in the home they designed and built. Our Mom continued to work as a nurse at Mary Secor Hospital, Walter Knox Memorial Hospital, and Emmett Care Center, retiring in 1991. Margie was loved, admired, respected and appreciated by her family, friends, co-workers, patients and their families and members of her community.
Mom enjoyed many hobbies among which were crocheting lovely Afghans (of which she gave to family members), flower gardening, growing house plants, playing games, reading, and collecting Avon bottles. She was a very caring and kind person who loved to have her family and friends around her. Mom was also a member of the Emmett Nazarene Church and enjoyed having Bible study groups in her home.
Survivors include her children, Suzanne and Gary Riggs of Eagle, Idaho, Melvin and Susan Worley of Kingman, Ariz., Gerald Worley and Tammie of Emmett, Ronald and Barbara Worley of Naples, Idaho, and Kathleen Gamboni of Emmett; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Wampler of Kirkland, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, and two brothers LeRoy DeGrange and Don DeGrange.
