Sharon "Shay" Marie Lewis, age 71, of Emmett, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho.

Sharon was born June 16, 1943, in Chicago, Ill., to Eugene and Charlotte (Cantwell) Kennedy. Sharon spent her childhood in Chicago, and as a teenager moved to Glendale, Calif. Sharon graduated from Holy Family Catholic High School and went on to Glendale Community College where she studied aeronautics in preparation for becoming a flight attendant with American Airlines.
In 1967, Sharon married her husband, Bill Lewis, and they bought a house in Simi Valley, Calif. Sharon resigned from American Airlines and became a beautician.
In 1989, Sharon, Bill and their two sons, Brian and Jeffrey, moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where for many years she owned and operated the Cuckoo's Nest Beauty Salon, retiring in 2009.
In 2010, Sharon and Bill moved to Emmett so that they could be close to their first grandson, Nathan, and their sons.
Sharon enjoyed being a volunteer teaching assistant at Emmett area grammar schools, as well as a member of the Walter Knox Hospital Auxiliary.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother and father.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Brian and Jeffrey and grandson, Nathan.
A Memorial Mass will be held under the direction of the Potter Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 E. First St., Emmett.
