Maxine O. Caswell, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2009, in Emmett, Idaho. Maxine was born June 23, 1923, in Greenville, Mich., to Awalt and Mercy Buchholz.

She married Avery Caswell of Six Lakes, Mich., on Nov. 28, 1941. They had three sons, James, David and Charles. She worked as a food service manager and custodian for Montebello School District. They lived in Michigan for 62 years, until the passing of Avery. She then moved west to reside close to her children and grandchildren. She lived in several communities throughout Idaho before moving to Emmett. During this time, she worked in a dress shop in Boise, Idaho, and sang with the Sweet Adelines. In St. Anthony, Idaho, she worked with a grandparents' program and served as school bus monitor in Orofino, Idaho. She was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter CE, hospital auxiliary and a local Bible study group in Emmett. She loved tending her flowers, cooking and traveling with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery.
She is survived by James and Susan Caswell of Emmett, David Caswell of Hillsboro, Ore., and Charles Caswell and Connie Crosby of Seattle, Wash.; her grandchildren, Rebecca and Wallace Whitson of Bend, Ore., Kurt Caswell of Lubbock, Texas, and Cari and Chadd Harbaugh of Boise; her great grandchildren, Tyler and Troy Whitson and Drew and Leah Harbaugh.
A memorial service was held at Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009. Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes, Mich.
