Stella was born July 31, 1921, to Roy and Edith (Lane) Chatham in Plainville, Kan. Stella grew up on the family farm where times were often difficult and work was hard. Stella learned early the value of family and of hope, faith, love and a tenacity to never give up even when times were rough. She attended Fort Hayes State College and was proud to have taught school in Kansas.
Stella married the love of her life, John Glave, Sept. 8, 1944, in Woodward, Kan. John and Stella were married 56 years until John's death in 2000.
Family was most important to Stella. Two sons, Gerald W. and Roger R., were born in Beloit, Kan. In 1956 the family moved to Boise, Idaho. She rejoiced in being Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great-Great Grandma. Some of her most cherished stories are of camping trips to the mountains and hunting trips in the Owyhee's with her family and friends. Though miles separated Stella from her sisters and brother, they remained connected and their love for each other remained strong.
Stella's faith was her rock. Though she endured numerous health challenges she never faltered in her love of her Lord. She was a serious student of the Bible and was often requested to share her knowledge by teaching church classes and Bible studies. She was a member of Grace Baptist church at the time of her death.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and her sister, Nadine.
She is survived by sons, Gerald (Pam) and Roger (Susan); her grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) Snell, John (Patsy) Snell, Heather (Alex) De Lipski, Melanie (Brett) Goodman and Travis Glave; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Colton, Kaitlyn, Julia, Sarah, Jacob, Olivia, Josey, McKenna and great-great-grandson Kayden; sisters, Letha, Eulah, Naoma, Velma, Virginia; and brother, Roy Jr.
