Services for Kenneth E. Pratt, 94, of Sweet, Idaho, who died Sunday Sept. 15, 2013, at a local retirement center, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Sweet Cemetery.
Kenneth was born on Oct. 17, 1918, in Emmett to William E. and Myra Swatman Pratt.
Prior to his ranching career he had a few adventures as a hobo, riding the rails and as a cook in the logging camps. He later worked with the CCCs fighting blister rust.
Kenneth married Dorothy McConnel of Montour, Idaho, on Dec. 25, 1939. They were married almost 74 years. Kenneth built his own home 70 years ago. He lived almost his entire life in the Sweet area as a rancher, until his helicopter ride to the hospital.
He was a member of Butte Lodge # 37 A.F. & A.M. and was a member of the Emmett Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons David W. (Sharon) Pratt of Sweet and K. Leonard (Esther) Pratt of High Valley; a daughter Sandra (Jim) Amos of Oregon City, Ore.; and an honorary son Gwen Duree of Caldwell; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by all his siblings Floyd Pratt, Wallace Pratt, Inez Wildman and Esther Turner and a great-great-grandson.
