Florian John Funk, 80, of Framingham, passed away late Wednesday April 9, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Hasenauer) Funk for 61 years. Born in Chicago, Ill. on August 29, 1933 he was the son of the late Thaddeus and Mildred (Sowizrol) Van Donk. He and his family moved to Framingham 45 years ago where he enjoyed the Boston sports teams. He also enjoyed golf, scuba diving and photography. He was employed for many years by North American Philips Corporation as National Sales manager in Chicago, Milwaukee and Boston. He served his country as a Marine during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1953. Father of children Pamela Rice of Manchester, NH, Gayle French and her husband Bill of Ashland, Glenn Funk and his wife Ruth of Grafton and the late Jay Kevin Funk, he also leaves 5 grandchildren: Adam Rice, Rebecca Young, Heather, Kelly and Melissa Funk and 2 great grandchildren: Codie & Trinity as well as many life long friends & family in Chicago. A visiting hour will be held Thursday April 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by urn burial at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
