Kenneth J. Dakai

Kenneth J. Dakai, 59, formerly of Ashland, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Clinton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Kathleen (Whelan) Dakai; his three children, Brian J. Dakai of Ashland; Emily Ann Dakai of Framingham; Ellen Marie Dakai of Worcester. He leaves his granddaughter Maya Ann Kennedy of Worcester; step-son Richard A. Reeves of Hopkinton; siblings, Jack Dakai of FL; Steven Dakai & wife Christine of CT; Barbara Huseby-Pilgreen & husband Herb of WA; Kathryn Dakai of Oxford; Margaret Morreale & husband Michael of Hudson; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He is pre-deceased by his brother Michael Dakai. Kenneth was born in Framingham to the late John & Blanche (Montville) Dakai. He was raised in Ashland, attended local schools and was a graduate of Ashland High School Class of 1972. Ken proudly served our nation in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He returned home and began his life long career with Vinyl Technologies of Fitchburg, where worked as a service technician for nearly twenty years. Ken was a proud patriot and active member of the James O. Casey American Legion Post 77 in Ashland. He enjoyed membership with the Kansas City Barbecue Society and was well known for critiquing all brisket entries, in search for the perfect recipe. He most cherished time spent in the company of his loving family and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date and time to be announced under the direction of the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
