Robert D. Quirk

Robert D. Quirk, age 88 of Sudbury passed away peace- fully on Thursday, September 26, 2013 following an exten- ded illness. He was the husband of the late Lucille Cusolito Quirk who died in November 2007. He is survived by his daughter Kendra L. Quirk and her wife Susan of Sudbury; his brother Bruce T. Quirk and his wife Jeanne of Sudbury. Born in Watertown on July 2, 1925 he was the son of the late John P. and Norma L. (Leedham) Quirk. Robert graduated from Watertown High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Motor Machinists Mate Second Class on the USS Mainstay whose mission was to detonate mines in the ocean for the safe passage of the Navys fleet destroyer ships. He served in both the European and Pacific Theaters where he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, European-African-Middle-Eastern Medal 1-star, and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. Upon his return home, he married and settled in Sudbury to raise his family. Robert was a prom- inent building developer for over 50 years in Sudbury, Maynard, Framingham and other surrounding towns. He was also an avid scuba diver and antique collector. His family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff, nurses and doctors at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Ellison 9 and White 9. They would like to thank the staff at Concord Health Care Center for all they did for Bob. Visiting Hours, Sunday, Sept. 29th from 2:00-6:00pm in the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard. Funeral Mass, Monday at 11:00 am in St. Bridget Parish, One Percival St., Maynard.
