Louise McDonough Obituary

Louise (Fredette) McDonough, 86, of Sun City Center, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She possessed a deep spirituality and lived her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Louise was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of Eddy and Anne Marie (Robidoux) Fredette. She was the wife of the late James P. McDonough, who died in 2004, to whom she was married for 52 years. After graduating from Saint Joseph's High School in Lawrence, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Lowell, where she earned a diploma in nursing in 1949. She started her nursing career at Boston City Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, retiring from Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton in 1988. Louise and her husband spent 11 years in New Port Richey and Oldsmar, Florida before returning to Southborough, Massachusetts in 1999. Upon her return, she served as a Eucharistic minister at Saint Bridget's Parish in Framingham. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Poellmitz and her husband William of Orlando, Florida, and Lisa Templeton and her husband Mark of Apollo Beach, Florida; grandchildren Karl Poellmitz and his wife Sara of North Dighton, Massachusetts, and Emma Poellmitz of Orlando; by her sister Evelyn (Fredette) Trum and her husband Vincent; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother J. Roland Fredette of Hampton, New Hampshire, who died in 2011. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 13 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Bridget's Parish in Framingham, and she will be interred alongside her husband at the Southborough Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
