Herbert Platts Obituary

Herbert Platts, 97, of Framingham, died, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Carlyle House, Framingham. He was the husband of 50 years to Nancy M. (Gavin) Platts of Framingham. Born in Millbury, he was the son of the late George and Rose Ann (Scott) Platts. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Platts worked for many years as a meat cutter for James Cowan and Sons in Worcester. He was an avid fly and ice fisherman and he loved going on walks. Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by his sister Dorothy L. Platts of Millbury; a brother-in-law John Gavin of Holliston, sister-in-law Louise Lounsbury of Framingham. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was the brother of the late, Rose Annie Platts, Priscilla Beaton, Alice Green, James, John, Harry, George, Alfred and Ernest Platts. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Saturday, April 17 at 9:30 AM at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, (www.nortonfuneralhome.com) 53 Beech St., Framingham. At the familys request there will be no funeral home visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Callahan Senior Center, 535 Union Ave., Framingham, MA 01702 or to the charity of ones choice.
