Marie Antobenedetto Obituary

Marie Jane Antobenedetto, age 59, of Natick passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Framingham, the daughter of the late Aldo and Barbara (Klein) Antobenedetto, she was raised and educated in Framingham and was a Framingham South High graduate, class of 1976. Loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend affectionately called Rere by her nieces and nephews, Marie tirelessly cared for her parents her entire life. She had a strong sense of family and community. Marie was a longtime employee of Pet World in Natick and was the heart and soul of the store. There, her greatest passion was finding loving homes for lost and unwanted cats in Stray Pets in Need (S.P.I.N.). She was dedicated to the care and placement of these animals even fostering many throughout the years. Her passion for animals followed her all of those years. She always had a home full of dogs and cats. She even saved an injured pigeon "Walter" and took him home. Marie found her spirituality in nature and was passionate about protecting the environment. Her many travels around the United States showcased the natural beauty of the land. Her favorite places being her beloved Colorado due to her love of John Denver and the vast wilderness of Alaska which she visited numerous times. She took care of her parents and enjoyed a full life with them, attending countless plays and concerts with her mother and the yearly trek to see the fall foliage. She is survived by her siblings John Antobenedetto and his wife Lynn Peters of Surprise, AZ, and Karen Hall and her husband Calvin of Plainville, five nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and great nephews, and longtime friend Pamela Willen of Framingham and her beloved pets Annie, Denver and Christopher. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Thursday, September 14 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stray Pets in Need of MA PO Box 812143, Wellesley, MA 02482-0014. I am so sorry to hear of Marie's passing. I called Pet World to speak with her and they told me she passed 5 months ago. Marie and I went back a long time ago. We worked together at Docktor Pet Center at Shoppers World. I will certainly miss her.

Marie brought so much joy to our family by blessing us with two beautiful cats that we love so much. We came in for many years to see the cats and when we finally had the opportunity to adopt the cats Marie knew just the ones for us. We will miss her dearly. Rest in peace Marie. I am still devastated and shocked that you left us so quickly. I will always have fond memories of growing up together. We were more like sisters than cousins. I hope you are flying high in the beautiful mountains you so greatly loved. You will be missed. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

I am stunned and devastated by this sudden loss. As the SPIN photographer for Petfinder/Wellesley Townsman, I've had the pleasure of working with Marie for over two years. I've really liked, admired, and respected her. She was super intelligent, and cared deeply for the cats. She patiently pointed out the ones to photograph to me, was patient yet again when I couldn't remember them all, and then patient (finally) in giving me all their stats after I got the photographs. She was also an excellent photographer herself - really good at that as at everything she did. I'll miss her very much and dread going in and feeling the pain of this great vacuum and loss. My heartfelt sympathy to all her family and innumerable friends.

I have fostered many mom cats and kittens for SPIN over the past several years. While I hated to give up my foster babies, I always knew Marie would find them the best homes. She was a very special woman with a rare talent. Many cats and kittens in the metrowest area now have wonderful lives because of her. Marie was tireless and so totally devoted - it was a privilege to work with her.

This is how I prefer to remember Marie...she was in her element here...

It is hard to believe Marie will not be there as I arrive on a Wednesday morning somewhat harried with the cats in carriers who have been rescued in one way or the other.

They came from many streets and places but Marie as a part of SPIN tried to help with all of them. She was a resource for many Independent trappers/individuals who did not always have access to other shelters.
Marie could handle a difficult cat with great ease. She kept a wealth of information in her head and knew which foster was right for the particular situation
.
Marie had planned to move to Colorado this month and I am sad she did not fulfill that dream in life.
Marie, Thank you for everything that you did for me and I will miss you in many ways.

Marie you were taken too soon and those who knew you well will miss you tremendously. I had the pleasure of knowing through my daughter in law and found you to have an amazingly beautiful soul with so much love and kindness to share. I feel honored to have known know and hope you are at rest and free of pain. You were an angel
To of the creatures of God and I am sure you will continue to watch over all from where you are now. God bless you Marie you will be missed

My dear Marie,
You gave me a sweatshirt years ago for my birthday. On it was printed,"All God's Angels come to us Disguised".You, an angel yourself, were thinly veiled in your disguise. Thank you for helping thousands of homeless cats find forever homes and thank you for helping me. Gratitude for you will come to ease my broken heart. I think your soul is now in your Colorado home, just over the Rainbow Bridge. Best purrs, Linda Montesano
