Darlene T. (Aten) Russell, 63, of Alfred, Maine and formerly of Bellingham, MA passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 6, 2013 after a brief illness. Darlene was born March 19, 1950 to Mary C. (Cooney) Aten of Alfred, Maine and the late William E. Aten. She was the loving wife of Raymond C. Russell for the past 35 years. They resided in Bellingham, MA for many years before relocating to Maine in 1999. Darlene was a graduate of Framingham South High School in Framingham, MA. She had worked at Interstate Bakeries Corp. as an office administrative assistant for the past 37 years. Darlene is survived by her 5 children, Catherine Geddes and her husband, Robert of Millis, MA; Stephen Russell and companion, Diane Enos-Goozey of Arundel, ME; Garry Russell and his wife, Nancy of Bellingham, MA; Sylvia Zardeskas and her husband, Thomas of Bellingham, MA; and Ronald Russell of Milford, MA. She was the loving Grammy to 11 grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews. In addition, Darlene is survived by brothers William Aten and his wife, Gail of Mendon, MA; Roy Aten and his wife, Beverly of Mobile, AL; and sister Lori Aten and companion William Bill Chipman of Whitinsville, MA. Darlene was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grammy, sister, aunt and friend. She passionately and unselfishly held dear the gathering of her family and friends at every opportunity, and treasured those times well spent. She will be sadly missed by all. At the familys request, no wake or funeral service will be held. A private memorial gathering for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.
