Edgar J. Lirette Obituary
Edgar Ed J. Lirette passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Marlborough Hills Rehabilitation Center after complications from ALS. Born in Baltimore, MD to the late Tilmon and Yvonne (Hache) Lirette, Ed was educated in Waltham, MA. He proudly served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WWII as a frogman, joining at the age of 17. Ed was married to his first wife, the late Gertrude (Hall) Lirette for 41 years. Together they shared five children. Ed married Mary L. Brassard in 2007, with whom he shared a 10-year marriage. He is predeceased by his first wife, Gertrude, two brothers Raymond and Reginald Lirette, and grandson, Charles Butch Wooster III. After the war, he took up the craft of stone masonry. He was self-employed for many years training his own sons and many apprentices. Ed was described as a hard worker and the life of the party. He was an active life member of the Loyal Order of Moose #1129, AMVETS Post 1980, Hudson VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, travelling, and spending time with friends. Ed leaves his beloved wife Mary (Brassard) Lirette of Marlboro, his daughter Carolyn V. Bradley and husband John of Wakefield NH, son Michael T. of Whitinsville, son Paul E. and wife Jane from Northborough, son Reginald J. and wife Kathleen of Marlboro, and daughter Sherry A. Bergin and husband Dennis of Oakham. He also leaves grandchildren PJ, Leigha, Jackson, Sarah, Rachel, and Erin, as well as several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, step-children and step-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. The family would like to send our gratitude to all the nurses, CNAs, and staff, at the Marlborough Hills, for their loving and attentive care during his illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Ed being held at Immaculate Conception Parish, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough on Monday, August 13 th at 11AM. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 12 from 2-5 PM in the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main Street, Marlboro, MA.
