Jean M. Audette, 74, of York, Maine died on June 22. He was born in Val dAmour, New Brunswick, Canada on April 22, 1939, to the late Edgar and Emmerentienne (Robichaud) Audet. As a teenager he immigrated to the United States and settled in Marlborough, MA where he lived until retiring to Maine in 2006. Shortly after moving to Marlborough, he met and married Mary L. (Barney), the love of his life for more than 51 years. Jean was an optimist who woke up each day ready and excited for the day. He possessed a gentle, patient and humble manner and an understated sense of humor. He was an unassuming patriarch who lived for his family. He has enjoyed returning to his hometown of Shippagan, New Brunswick for the past few summers to spend time with his brothers and sisters. Throughout their marriage, Jean and Mary Lou opened their home to anyone in need and welcomed many extended family members. Although Jean endured some trying medical complications over the past few years, he had a contagious enthusiasm for life until the moment he died. Besides his wife, he also leaves his son, James F. Audette and his wife Cecile of Baltimore, MD; his daughters, Julie A. Gilbert and her husband Calvin of Turner, ME, Jacqueline A. Kaye and her husband Daniel of Millis, MA and Kristin Quinzani and her husband Mark of Millis, MA; his brothers Gabriel Audette and his wife Carol of Hudson, MA and Richard Audet and his wife Martina of Shippagan, NB; his sisters, Marie Hayes and her husband Kenneth of East Burke, VT, Jacinthe Oakley and her husband Bruce of Chilliwack, BC, Luce Audet and Anne Audet of Shippagan, NB; and his grandchildren, Alex, Renee, Thomas, Matthew, Abigail, Elizabeth, Adam, Kyle and Nicholas. He was predeceased by two of his sisters, Gilberte Jones and Jeanne Paulin. He also leaves countless nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Jean will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 26th in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York, Maine. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, June 27th in St. Christophers Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine.
