William Michael "Bill" Gannon, 85, of West Yarmouth formerly of Framingham, MA passed away on November 13, 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis after a long illness surrounded by his family. Bill was married to the love of his life, Loretta Kimble Gannon. He leaves six step daughters; Lynda Gannon, Cheryl Capparra, Gail Wicklow, Colleen Gannon, Kathryn Garlick and Maureen Martelli. He also leaves six step granddaughters; Meghan Scherbarth, Courtney Scherbarth, Kirstin Daniels, Morgan Sylvia, Leighanne Garlick, and Rachel Garlick, three step grandsons; Michael Capparra, Matthew Capparra, and Richard Andrew Scherbarth and one step great-granddaughter; Soraya Daniels. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the son of Thomas and Ellen Claire Nellie (Kennedy) Gannon. He was predeceased by eight sisters and five brothers; Anna, Marguerite, Rose, Julia, Catherine, Cecelia, Helen Mary, John, Thomas, Austin, James and Henry. Lillian remains his only living sibling. He attended Framingham Schools and served in the United States Army during the Second World War. After being discharged, he was employed by Norman Farley for many years at Farleys Diner and the Meadows Restaurant in Framingham. He followed that by a career with Rochford Construction Company in Framingham until the business was closed. His final career was with the Town of Framingham Sewer Department where he remained until his retirement. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge # 1713 and American Legion Post #74 both in Framingham. In 2002, he fulfilled a life long dream and moved to Cape Cod. Visiting Hours will be held Friday November 16, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth. Funeral services to follow at 11:30 a.m. in St. Davids Episcopal Church, 205 Main Street, South Yarmouth. Burial will be held in Chandler Gray Cemetery, Higgins Crowell Road, West Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
