Mrs. Alice MacConnell 93, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Framingham, Massachusetts, died on February 28, 2011 at Saint Josephs Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Alice was born on August 3, 1917 in Dorchester, MA and lived with her parents, Manfred Marson and Mary ODonnell Marson and sister Joan. Alice spent her childhood enjoying her many aunts, uncles and cousins singing around the piano. She graduated from high school in Boston. Her first job was with Timken Oil Company in the city of Boston. In 1942 Alice married George V. MacConnell in Salem, NH. After George served in WWII they moved into a new home in Framingham, MA where they raised their son, George. During her many years in Framingham Alice enjoyed boating and family gatherings with her sisters family. In 1992 Alice and George retired to Atlanta, Georgia and resided at Hammond Glen Retirement Community in Sandy Springs, where she enjoyed 18 happy years. Alice took great pride in her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed happy hours, parties and many activities provided at Hammond Glen. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a dear friend to many. She will be greatly missed. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George V. MacConnell and her sister Joan Williams. She is survived by her son George A. and daughter-in-law, Donna J. MacConnell; her grandchildren, Brian MacConnell, Kevin MacConnell, and Amy Mitravich and her husband Robert Mitravich; her great-grandchildren, Ava and Sophia Mitravich; her nephews, Richard and Robert Williams, plus many loving great-nieces and great-nephews. The Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday March 4, 2011 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 7171 Glenridge Dr NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, 770-394-3896. A memorial reception will be at 3:30 p.m. at Hammond Glen Retirement Community, 335 Hammond Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328, 404-256-6300.
