Russell J. Whitney, 91, a resident of Framingham since 1955, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham. He was the husband of 65 years to the late Valerie (Aylsworth) Whitney. Born in Belmont, he was the son of the late William and Lexie Ann (Smith) Whitney. During World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees in Guam and in California. Mr. Whitney worked for more than 30 years as a construction foreman for Stop and Shop. He was a proud and active member of the American Legion and the VFW, both in Framingham. He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Blois and her husband, Everett Ted, of Hollistion; two grandchildren, Scott A. Blois and his wife, Hui Yun, of Quincy, and Douglas W. Blois and his wife, Debra, of Hollistion. He is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Amy, Holly, and Julie, all of Quincy, and Caitlin of Holliston. His fifth great-granddaughter, Sarah, will be born on Thursday. He was the father of the late Valerie Ann Whitney and brother of the late Ethel M., Ernest W. and Mary E. Whitney. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Wednesday, May 30, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Avenue), Framingham, followed by his funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial is in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont.
