Everett Marshall Washer, 67, died on Thursday, August 16, 2012 during a business trip to SC. He was the husband of Rebecca Washer. They were in the process of moving from their home in Sterling, CT back to Everetts childhood home of Johnson, VT. Everett was born and raised in Johnson, graduated at the top of his high school class, and went on to receive a degree in Geology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had a successful career as an environmental engineer, working for several firms including his most recent position with The Shaw Group. Everett married Terri (Annese) Washer in 1970. They raised two children in Stow, MA and enjoyed skiing, traveling, hiking, good food and wine, cheering on the Red Sox, and walking their dog. Terri died in 2005 after a long struggle with cancer. Everett remarried in June 2011 to Rebecca, with whom he planned to spend his retirement. Besides his wife, Everett is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth, of Florence, MA; a son, Jonathan, of Arlington, MA; and a brother, Steve, of Keene, NH. He was the son of the late Marshall Washer, a longtime Johnson resident. A small memorial gathering will take place at 11am on Friday, August 24 at 1371 Plot Road in Johnson, VT; a Boston-area gathering is also being planned for Fall (interested friends should contact the family for more information). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund at www.together4cures.org/mypage/evwasher.
