Gary Peter Young, 63, of Fitchburg, formerly of Milford, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 29, 2013. Gary was born in Framingham on September 10, 1949, the only son of Sophie (Walenski) and the late Ralph W. Young Jr. He was a 1967 graduate of Franklin High School who joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Gary graduated from the Rhode Island Trade School, where he specialized in Mechanics. He was an especially hard worker, and for 15 years, Gary worked for the Kidde Fenwal Company in Ashland as a machinist. Most recently, he was employed in the same position for the Sealed Air Company in Ayer. Gary was a talented mechanic who had a passion for fixing and rebuilding classic cars. He loved music, especially classic rock, and being near the ocean. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with Mari, his high school sweetheart, fiance, and love of his life. He enjoyed Sunday dinners and other get togethers with family and friends. He was a devoted father, who loved his children and honorary grandchildren. He leaves his fiance of 6 years, Mari Giancola of Fitchburg; his mother, Sophie (Walenski) Young of Framingham; son, Jesse Young of Ashland, MA; daughter, Rebecca Young of Utah; sisters, Beverly Marguerite of Franklin, Peggy Marguerite of Falmouth; His aunt, Alice Walenskiof Framingham; honorary grandchildren, Sam and Grace Pfeiffer of Leominster, as well as uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Besides his father, Gary was predeceased by his son Jason Young in 2011. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family and under the direction of Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg.
