Richard W. Matton

Richard W. Dick Matton, 82, of Framingham, formerly of Springfield, passed away peacefully in his home, on Friday, October 28, 2016. Born and raised in Springfield, he was the son of the late William J. & Viola (Chamberlain) Matton, and the beloved husband of Rosemary (Shea) Matton. A graduate of American International College in Springfield, Dick went on to graduate school at Middlebury College in VT. He subsequently served for over 25 years as a research chemist for the Dept. of the Army at both the Natick Lab and the Watertown Arsenal. Besides his wife, Richard is survived by his son, Richard W. Jr., of Framingham, his 3 grandchildren, Clara, Sophie, and Calvin, his sister, Virginia Mitchell of TX, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., FRAMINGHAM, on Sunday, Nov. 6th at 12 pm. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 1pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
