Obituary Condolences

Elizabeth W. "Betty" Mroczek, 81, resident of Dwight Township, near Kinde, died unexpectedly, Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at her home, following an apparent heart attack.

Mrs. Mroczek was born Aug. 12, 1926 in Rapson, daughter of the late Walter and Sophia (Gawel) Majewski. Miss Elizabeth Majewski and John Mroczek were united in marriage Nov. 20, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Rapson. John preceded his wife in death on Oct. 14, 2003.

Betty attended the Rapson Rural County School. She loved to ice skate the creek between the school and her family's farm. In the 1940s she was employed at Spiegel Catalog Co. in Chicago. Upon returning to Huron County, she joined her husband in the family dairy farm, worked at Ubly Seatbelt for several years and was employed at Huron Memorial Hospital in the kitchen. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church-Dwight, an active member of St. Mary Holy Rosary Sodality and the alter society. She volunteered help with the church's festivals and dinners. Betty was a member of the U & I Club Port Austin and the Kinde Senior Citizens. She loved to cook, play euchre, work in her garden, and attend garage sales. Visiting with her family and friends was very special to her.

She is survived by three daughters, and two sons, Mary (Wayne) Engelhardt of Providence Forge, Va., Patricia Mroczek and Catherine (William) Fischer, both of Flushing; David (Bonnie) Mroczek of Kentwood and James (Evelyn) Mroczek of Spring Hill, Tenn. Six grandchildren, Tricia Engelhardt, Matthew Engelhardt, Sarah Mroczek, Amanda Mroczek, Elizabeth Fischer and Robert Fischer; one sister, Genevieve Roggenbuck of Port Hope; one brother-in-law, Edward Mroczek and his wife, Marie, of Sandusky. Also, several nieces and nephews survive.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alphonse and Walter Majewski. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Dwight. Fr. Mietek Oniskiewicz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Visitation will take place from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the MacAlpine Funeral-Gage Chapel in Kinde. A rosary will be offered by the St. Mary Holy Rosary Sodality at 4 p.m. Monday followed by a parish scripture at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be offered to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
