CALVIN — William Richard Thompson age 86 went home to be with the Lord and his family who had gone on before him on June 10th, 2014. He left this world gently and peacefully with his daughters and family lovingly around him.
He was born February 19, 1928 in Calvin, KY-the son of the late William Matt and Lurinda Robbins Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Joan Lee Thompson, his daughters Susan Lynn Thompson and Rebecca Jane Thompson, infant grand-daughter Elizabeth Susan Lynn Wilder, brother Bradley Thompson, sisters Ethel Thompson, Anna Mae Wilder, Nellie Green Thompson, Martha Wesley, and Elsie Gibbons.
Richard proudly served his country as a 16th Infantry Ranger in the Armyduring WWII. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He believed in the Lord JesusChrist. He worked as Chief Engineer at French Bauer Dairy in Cincinnati until they closed, he then worked as Chief Engineer at Siemens in Norwood, OH. before coming back to Pittman's Creek, KY. to enjoy his retirement. He was a good provider for his family, and he loved them dearly.
Richard is survived by daughters Betty Movis Thompson-Deitsch and husband David, Donna Lane Wilder and husband Roger, and Pam Branham; sister Leda Edna Orr; grandchildren Lisa Movis Parrett and husband Jerry, Amanda Blevins and husband James, Matthew Muncy and wife Jennifer, William Muncy and wife Tonya, Kelly Wilder, Robert Wilder, Donnie, Tom, and Rob Branham; and David D., Shannon and Lisa Deitsch; and fourteen great-grandchildren, James, Miranda, Abigail, and Andrea Blevins; Bryson Muncy; Kourtney and Khole Muncy; and Destiny and Kara Cox; and Devin, Cheyanne, Adrew, Taylor, Gabrielle; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7 pm Friday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Elder John Robbins presiding. Music was provided by Thomasa Risner. Graveside services will be held at 12 pm Saturday at the God's Field Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Robbie Wilder, Willie Muncy, James Blevins, Dave Deitsch, Jerry Parrett and Matt Muncy. Honorary Pallbearers were: The staff at Middlesboro Cracker Barrel. The family received friends from 5-7 pm Friday at the Creech Funeral Home.
