Georgia Belle Botkin Davis

STONEY FORK — Georgia Belle Botkin Davis, 99, of Stoney Fork, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Pineville Community Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Berea, KY on April 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Daniel Botkin, MD of Hazard and Louisville; and Dooley Welch Botkin. She had been a member of Evangel World Prayer Center in Louisville and Mill Creek Baptist Church at Kettle Island. She was a devote Christian who loved to worship, attend church and read her bible. A woman of prayer, she was part of many church organizations and prayed for her pastor and church members. She had worked as a medical assistant for her father.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis E. Davis; a son, James Daniel "Danny" Davis; brother, John Winston Fish, MD (who was killed on an aircraft carrier during World War II) and sister, Virginia Botkin, a voice professor at North Texas State University.

Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Joanne Davis Corum and Jim, of Stoney Fork, KY and Marjorie Lynn Davis Curtis and Doug, of Sykesville, MD; grandchildren, Jaime Corum, Jimmy Corum and Scott Wilsie; nieces and nephews, the Klosterman family of Louisville and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 5 PM Tuesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Sowders. Music will be by Mickey Wilder. Burial will be Wednesday at 2 PM at the Berea Cemetery, Berea.
