Karen Faye Riley Kilgore

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Karen Faye Riley Kilgore, Harrogate, TN passed away at Covenant Health and Rehabilitation in Tazewell, TN on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. She was born on September 8, 1947 in Middlesboro, KY to Roy Riley and Jeanette Sharp Riley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Andy and Lulu Sharp. She was united in marriage to Danny Kilgore on February 28, 1966 at First Christian Church, Middlesboro, KY by Rev. E. Thomas Wright. Karen was a proud graduate of the Middlesboro High School class of 1965.

She was retired from Food City of Middlesboro after 20 years of service. Karen fought a 4 ½ year battle with lung cancer with her husband and children at her side.

Karen is survived by her husband, Danny Kilgore, Harrogate, TN; her daughter, Tanja Kilgore Snodgrass (Robbie) New Tazewell, TN; son, Daniel Kilgore, Harrogate, TN; granddaughters: Kristen Snodgrass Ayers (Caleb) Harrogate, TN and Kelly Snodgrass Brooks (Zack) Maynardville, TN; her only sister, Peggy Riley Benson, Middlesboro, KY; great granddaughter, Khloe Snodgrass; great grandsons: Colton Snodgrass and Kacen Brooks; her brothers-in-laws: James R Kilgore (Lucille) Suwannee, GA, Kenneth W. Kilgore (Diane) Buford, GA, John F. Kilgore, Middlesboro, KY; sister-in-law, Jill Kilgore, Orange Park, FL; long time friend and co-worker, Sue Sowders Hopper, Middlesboro, KY; numerous nephews, cousins, and many good friends.

We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, technicians, and other medical professionals who helped care for Karen through her long battle with cancer. At the end Karen overcame this terrible disease, as she was a born again Christian and now is in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Karen's last wishes were for her remains to be cremated and no public viewing held.

A visitation will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial service and Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Shumate Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Damon Patterson officiating.
