Mildred Rogers

PINEVILLE — Mildred Louise Mirick Rogers of Pineville, left this world on Sunday, May 25, 2014 to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the Pineville Community Hospital. Born to earthly parents, Rev. Henry Mirick, Sr. and his beloved wife, Tina Baker Mirick on March 12, 1929.

She leaves behind, one daughter, Tommye Darlene Rogers; grandchildren, Betty Louise Golden Taylor, William Herman Golden and wife, Jennifer and Austin Everett Golden; a dear friend, Beth Bullen who also caller her mom, great-grandchildren, Liam Gabriel Quay McDermott, Noah William Golden and Mary Hazel "Mazey" Golden; brothers and sisters, Henry Mirick, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Aileen Spencer; Charles Mirick and Sue; Robert Mirick; Lucille Heidenreich and husband, Jack; hordes of nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews; special niece, Alice Faye Mirick Barton; One very special friend, Earnest Carroll, that has been by her side for 27 years in good and bad, with whom she enjoyed companionship and adventures; close friends, Ronald Brown; Betty Mason and Lola Dye Miller. We would like to recognize Hospice of the Bluegrass for sending an incredible staff: Nurse, Kim, Social worker, Lisa; Chaplain, Shawn and nurse aides, Wanda and Madonna, all who she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Everett Rogers; sister, Jerline Mills, brothers, Chalas Mirick and Hershel Mirick and infant sister, Edith Mirick.

Mildred started working in Bell County at 17 years of age at Morgan's Drug Store, Big Jim Commissary at Arjay, JJ Newberry's in Pineville, Ward Clerk and then LPN at Pineville Community Hospital, Pineville Home Health and for Dr. Buell B. Mills until she retired in 1986.

She was a long time member of Arjay Baptist Church where she served as Clerk and Sunday School Secretary and teacher. She also got special singers for the church as well as being a member of the Church Choir and sang solo's. Mildred was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church when God called her name. She enjoyed retirement and visited with the sick and shut in people in the area until she herself could no longer get out and about. She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul.

Mildred would like to leave you with these words: "Always live your life for the Lord Jesus Christ and I will see all of you again someday."

A Celebration of Life service will be on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with her daughter, Tommye, Rev. Roy Hatton, Rev. Danny Robbins and Chaplain Shawn, all who would like to say a few words or share a memory. Music will be by Tommye Rogers, Beth Bullen and the Gibson's. Burial will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens with pallbearers, Doyle Mason, Ricky Broughton, Jerry Woodyard, Jimmy Mirick, Rick Cannals and David Burdett. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Lee Mills, Johnny Ray Mirick, Jack Heidenreich, Gary Wayne Mirick, Bob Barton, Dr. Buell Mills, Dr. Jerry Woolum, Harold Onkst and Bob Martin.
