MIDDLESBORO — Beverly Alene Greene passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at her sister's home. She was surrounded by her family ending a 7 year battle with cancer. She was born July 31, 1953, and was the daughter of Charlie and Juanita Greene. A graduate of Middlesboro High School, she had worked for the Bell County Public Library System for over 40 years. She began her career as a library clerk and worked her way up to director of the system, the position she held at her passing. Active in the community, she served two terms on the Middlesboro City Council and was a member of various civic groups. Beverly was also very active in her church, First Christian Church of Middlesboro, where she served as a deacon, board secretary, Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Juanita Meyers Greene, and two infants, Sharon Olivia and Patrick Meyers Brown.

Survivors include three children, Joseph Patrick "J.R.", Jasmine Olivia, and Destiny Alene Greene; one granddaughter, Dixie Sky; her father, Charlie Greene, Middlesboro; siblings Chuck and Barbara Green, Pineville, Steve and Andrea Greene, Middlesboro, Donna Greene, Middlesboro, Cathy and Ismail Eldahan, Middlesboro, and Jeff and Sherry Greene, Middlesboro; nieces and nephews, Kim and Jacob Saylor, Todd and Elizabeth Green, Patrick Greene, Emily Greene, Karema Eldahan and Ahmed Kasim, Adam Eldahan, Khalid Eldahan, Clay Greene, and Madison Greene; great-nieces and nephews, Mackenzie, Emma, and Sophie Day, Jake, Tyler, and Justin Green. She is also survived by special friends, Marva Taylor, Evelyn Farmer, Scott and Mary Ruth Coign, Debbie Mars, Kathy Yeary, and Jill Barry.

Visitation will be from 3-7:30pm at First Christian Church, Middlesboro, on Sunday, February 23, 2014. Services will follow at 7:30pm with Dr. Derek Penwell and Rev. Brian Kearns presiding. Music will be by Karen and Larry Blondell, Chris and Katie Stotts, and Dale Ann Bradley.

Graveside will be at 11:30am at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her son, JR Greene, and nephews Todd Green, Jacob Saylor, Patrick Green, Ahmed Kasim, Adam Eldahan, Khalid Eldahan, and Clay Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at the Middlesboro Public Library and her church family.
