PINEVILLE — June Phipps Conatser, 99, of Pineville joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 13th Middlesboro, KY. She was born at Clear Creek in Pineville on June 10, 1915, a daughter of the late Henry Frank Phipps and Mary Eliza Rice Phipps and was a member of the Moss Chapel Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husbands, George Thurston Ralston and Clarence Conatser.
She was employed at various jobs in Cincinnati and Pineville, and worked as a beautician at the Edgewood Beauty Salon in Pineville. She always made clear her pride in her southeastern KY heritage, where her ancestors were pioneers. June cared deeply for her family and left them many lovingly made handcrafted items.
Also preceding her in death were an infant son, Bobby Frank Ralston; her siblings, Robert Grover Phipps, Mabel Phipps Hoskins, Myrtle Phipps Baker, Dorothy Phipps, Henry Clay Phipps, Joe Phipps, and George Oakley Phipps.
Survivors include her children, Bill and wife Marie Ralston of Cincinnati, Phyllis Ralston Downey, of Middlesboro, and granddaughter, Connie Hoskins of Pineville. Sister-in-law, Ann Ellardy Phipps, of Zephyr Hills, FL. also survives her. Relatives who helped her continue to live at home after succumbing to blindness include nephew, Michael and wife Barbara Williams Hoskins, and nieces, Susan Hoskins Brown and Shelia Hoskins Key, all of Pineville. Shining lights were great nephew and great niece, James Michael Brown and Kelly Rheann Brown of Pineville. Dearly loved were nephews, David Phipps of Dayton, OH and Ed Phipps of Mobile, AL.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ellis Hoskins. Interment will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the Smith Hill Cemetery at Clear Creek. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold McGeorge, Rick Slusher, Bill Browning, Mike Hoskins, Brian Key and Danny Busseni.
