FREMONT — James K. Mason, 85, of Fremont passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 8, 1929 to William James and Sarah (Patterson) Mason in Middlesboro, KY.

Jim graduated from Middlesboro High School in 1947. He married Evaden "Eve" Gilbert on December 2, 1949 in Mansfield, OH; she survives.

Jim was the Vice President of Sales for Crown Battery MFG CO, retiring in 1994.

Jim was very active in the community. He was a member of the Fremont County Club, Nugents Canal Yacht Club Past Commodore, Port Clinton Yacht Club, Elks #169, Fremont Moose, and Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Bethel Baptist, Lima and Associate Member Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont.

Jim is also survived by children, Thomas Mason of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert (Lisa) Mason, Lou Ann (Jeff) Kramer, all of Vickery, Martin (Barbara) Mason of Fremont, and Rex (Cynthia) Mason of Vickery along with 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Mumaugh of Lima and Willa Dean Madison of Middlesboro, KY.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Linda Kamille Mason; Daughter-in-Law, Fran Mason; and siblings, Elmer, Donald, Billy, Lora and Zora, Evelyn, Sudie, and Ann.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Thursday July 17, 2014 from 4-8PM with a funeral service on Friday at 11AM at Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service at church. Pastor J. Alan Brown will be officiating. There will be a Graveside Service at 2 PM at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Lima, Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church, Fremont, or the Donor's Choice in Jim' memory.
