News Death Notice

SAMWORTH, Fred A. age 69, of Germantown, OH, passed away, Thursday August 26, 2010. Fred was born in Huntington, WV, on November 23, 1940, to the late Henry "Harry" B. and Mildred L. (Brunk) Samworth. He retired from Standard Register in 1995 after 29 years of service. He was a member of Germantown United Methodist Church; serving as a member of Administrative Council, Head Usher and Treasurer. He was a founder of Kercher Park and VVBase, and also served as PeeWee Football Coach, Administrator and Official. Fred was active as a band parent, Cub Scout Pack #409 volunteer; and in the Academic Booster Club. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary I. "Mickey" Samworth; 2 sons, R. Michael (Kyle) Samworth and Matthew Alan (Cheri) Samworth, all of Germantown, OH; his daughter, Linda Anne (David) Lewis of New Lebanon, OH; 5 grandchildren, Sarah & Chet Lewis and Todd & Tim Morris and Hunter Samworth; 3 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Kaleb & HaiLee Morris; 4 sisters, Mary Jo (Dee) Cooper of Lewisburg, OH, Sally Young, Betsy Kelley & Leslie Vaughn; 2 brothers, Ernest (Mary) Corradi of Miamisburg and Eugene Corradi of Germantown, OH; He is also survived by his girls, Molly & Misty and grand-dogs, Sadie, Magilla, Nala and Macie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Tuesday August 31st, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown. The Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1st, at Germantown United Methodist Church, 140 East Market St., Germantown, with Rev. Dr. Carla Stengel officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to G. U. M. Church Organ Fund or St. Augustine Building Fund.

Although it has been many years since I started working with Fred at Standard Register in 1968 I have many great memories of those days. He played a mean game of Hearts at lunchtime and we enjoyed his robust humor. I send best wishes to family and friends. He will be remembered always.
