Hyman Schwartz

SCHWARTZ, HYMAN Hyman Schwartz, 87, of Middletown, husband of the late Phyllis (Scofield) Schwartz for forty-five years, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Norwalk, he was the son of Harry and Shirley (Gableman) Schwartz. Hyman was a member of Congregation Adath Israel Synagogue, where he sang in the choir. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, worked at Stuarts Shoe Store in Norwalk and was a member of American Legion Post 12 in Norwalk since 1955. Hyman loved singing and was a member of Coastal Chordsmen and the Middletuners. He is survived by two sons, David A. Schwartz, and Aaron S. Schwartz and his wife Michelle of Portland; his brother, Leonard Schwartz, his wife Liz and their sons Harry and Todd of Queens, NY; and two grandchildren, Brie and Alexa Schwartz. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. in B’Nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Avenue, New Haven, where full military honors will be accorded.
