Phyllis Hurlburt

Phyllis Birdsey (Martin) Hurlburt of Middletown, wife of the late Clarence Hurlburt, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on Sunday, March 9, her 97th birthday, at Apple Rehab. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Birdsey) Martin. Phyllis lived in Middletown all of her life and was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Phyllis enjoyed her family, especially cherishing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Janice Grover and her husband Douglas, Joyce Hurlburt and Lynn Silvestro, and her husband, Angelo “Butch,” all of Middletown; two grandchildren, Kelley Vecchitto and Tammy Perrotta; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Chelsea, Amanda, Samantha and Joseph. Along with her husband and parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her brother, Howard Martin; two sisters, Blanche Maine and Ruth Dickinson; and two grandchildren, Brian Grover and Scott Silvestro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
