Andrew Calicchio Jr.

CALICCHIO, ANDREW J. JR. Andrew John Calicchio, Jr., 75, of Cromwell, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 15th at Hartford Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Andrew and Flora (Misteri) Calicchio, Sr. Andy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked as an operating engineer for the Local 478 for over thirty years. Andy was an avid race car fan, spending many Sunday afternoons watching the races with his son. He is survived by five children, William Calicchio of Cromwell, Donna Otlowski and her husband, Peter of Cromwell, Denise Lewandowski of Berlin, Joann Davis and her husband, Craig of Soda Springs, ID, and Scott Nemit of Soda Springs, ID; eight grandchildren, Thomas Zink and Valerie “Peaches” Zink, of Cromwell, Richard Lewandowski and Avery Lewandowski, of Berlin, Joshua Jacobson and Dustin Jacobson of ID, and Tiffany Nemit and Heather Nemit of UT; three great grandchildren; his sister, Agnes Laparuta of Middletown and his brother, John O. Calicchio of Stamford. Besides his parents, Andy was predeceased by his sister, Carol Ericson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 20th at 10:00am at Saint John Church, 5 Saint John Court, Cromwell. Burial will be in the spring in Saint John Catholic Cemetery in Darien. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations in Andy’s memory to American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deanne Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
