WARD, ANNETTE B. Annette B. Ward, 73, of Middletown, CT, departed this life December 28, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Relford “Mitch” Ward for 52 years. Mrs. Ward was born, April 13, 1940, in Tallahassee, Fl, daughter of the late Ervin and Lucy Brown. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the City of Middletown as the Director of City Welfare. Mrs. Ward was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Middletown since 1967 where she served as the chairperson of the Deaconess and Mother’s Ministry and was a member of the Gospel Mass and 8:00 A.M. Choirs. She served as a member of the Walter C. Jones Fund, Affirmative Action and the Republican Town Committees. She also served on the Board of Directors for Shiloh Manor in Middletown. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Relford “Mitch” Ward, Jr. (Deb); brothers, Burlein (Julia), David and Alvin Brown; sisters, Gloria Beamon, and Margaret and Pam Brown; a grandchild, Derrick Ward; daughter in-law, Mary-Jane Ward; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Reginald Lorenzo Ward; a sister, Juanita Brown; and a granddaughter, Madeline Tirado. A celebration of Mrs. Ward’s life and legacy will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 346 Butternut St., Middletown, CT. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-10:00 A.M. Burial will be in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to “The Derrick Ward Education Fund”, c/o Liberty Bank, 315 Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K. Mitch and family; I am so so sorry to hear about boos passing. I just found out about her passing yesterday. My heart is so broken. While I was celebrating my 65th the night of 12/28 I was losing a beautiful friend that was in my life for a long long while as a co-worker for the city of Middletown... my heart is in pain Mitch...I'm hurting so much. I can imagine your pain for your love you had for boo. I will never forget Annette. May she rest in pease and Jehovah give her a resurrection. You and your family will be in my thoughts forever. So very sorry to hear of the passing of one of Middletown's finest citizen. I had the pleasure of working for so many committees with Annette. She would always be ready to serve in any capacity to promote the good on Middletown and all of its citizens. Annette was a tireless worker for those that were less fortunate and she is responsible for many people in and out of Middletown living in a much better climate than when they first came to her agency. Thank you Mitch for the many years of stand by Annette as she worked so hard to make Middletown the beautiful place it is today.

Our family is so saddened to hear of Annette ' s passing. She had such a beautiful and humble spirit, not to mention a wonderful sense of humor. So many of my personal memories include spending holidays and vacations with Annette, Mitch, Little Mitch and Reggie. I am truly indebted to Annette for mentoring me, giving me my first job and for providing me with many references over the years.
