Domenico Ponticelli

Domenico Ponticelli, 84, of Mystic, husband of 51 years to Marianna Ponticelli passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Naples, Italy he was the son of the late Francesco and Amelia (DeSimone) Ponticelli.
Domenico and his wife resided in Queens, NY for 32 years before settling in Mystic in 1994 upon his retirement. He was employed with Barneys New York for 32 faithful years as a Tailor & Fitter.
His favorite pastime was watching Italian Soccer and was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton. His skills as an accomplished tailor, gave him the opportunity to make suits for himself & others.
Besides his beloved wife, he leaves his daughter, Josephine Amleto and her husband, Dr. Mario Amleto, of Middletown; brother; Giovanni Ponticelli and his wife, Ester; sister, Titina Padullo and her husband, Carmine, all of Italy; four grandchildren, Marie and George Scarles and Marco and Christopher Amleto; and his son-in-law, Dr. James Scarles of Mystic. He was predeceased by his daughter, Amelia Scarles of Mystic and a sister, Nina Pirozzi.
His family will receive friends Monday, October 28th from 1-3 & 6-8 pm at the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic (51 Williams Ave.) A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church 69 Groton Long Point Rd. Groton. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery New London.
