HILLS, WILLIAM FREDERICK, SR. William Frederick Hills Sr., 85, of Middletown, beloved husband of Shirley Walden Hills for sixty-five years, passed away on Tuesday, March 25 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Edward and Grace (Hill) Hills Sr. Bill lived in Middletown all of his life and was a member of South Methodist Church on Wall Street in Middletown. He worked for the City of Middletown for thirty-four years and was a member of the ELKS B.P.O.E Lodge #771. Bill played softball for Buzz Inn and was an avid Red Sox fan and card player. Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Benjamin E. Hills and his wife Bonnie of Middletown; three daughters, Kathleen Perkins of Middletown, Sandra Hudson and her partner Tim Strong of Colchester, and Joanne Collins of Middletown; a brother, Charles Trowbridge of Old Saybrook; four sisters, Dorothy Culver of Middletown, Violet Jackson of Portland, Ruth Moran of Old Saybrook and Elizabeth Dow of Las Vegas, NV; eleven grandchildren, Mark Perkins, William Perkins, Steven Hills, Matthew Hills, Heather Duteau, Becky Simons, Renee Ortiz, Jason Canfield, Louis Frangione, Kyle Frangione and Jesse Frangione; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his son, William F. Hills Jr.; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. Hills and Raymond E. Hudson Jr.; two brothers, Earl R. Hills and Edward Hill Jr.; and his sister, Evelyn Marchant. The Hills family would like to say a special thank you to Middlesex Home Hospice for their wonderful care and support. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, 857 South Main Street, Middletown. Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown, and in lieu of flowers may make donations in William’s memory to the .
