Helen Ewanowski Harrison, 100, wife of the late Albert J. Harrison, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Asheville, NC after a brief illness. Born in Middletown, CT on November 30, 1912, she was the daughter of Stanley and Mary Ann Ewanowski. She was one of six siblings, and made Meriden her home. Her last years were spent in Asheville, NC in the care of her daughter Gail and family. She worked during WWII at New Departure – a division of Pratt and Whitney, and she retired from The Napier Company. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, she was an excellent cook and homemaker, and we will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her three children; Gail McCarthy and her husband Brian of Asheville, NC, Dr. James Harrison and his wife Laura of Novato, California, and Mary Jane Harrison-Knezek and her husband Mike of Seymour, Texas. Four grandchildren; Michelle St. Onge Preuninger and her husband Todd of Apex, NC, Jonathan St. Onge and his wife Fei-Wen of Asheville NC, Eli Harrison of San Francisco, California, and Daniel Harrison of Novato, California, three great grandchildren; Elias St.Onge Arnqvist of Uppsala, Sweden, Isabella St.Onge of Asheville, NC and Amelia St.Onge of Asheville, NC, one brother-in-law George Fellegy of Middletown, CT, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout Connecticut and other parts of the world.
The Funeral will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden and at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Of Lima Church, 33 Center Street, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Middletown.
